Caring For Your Garden
In The Spring of Faith

Spring is just around the corner - Here are some ideas for your garden...

Plant Three Rows of Peas:
Peace of mind
Peace of heart
Peace of soul
No Garden Without Turnips:
Turnip for meetings
Turnip for service
Turnip to help one another
Plant Four Rows of Squash:
Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness
To Conclude Our Garden
We Must Have Thyme:
Thyme for each other
Thyme for family
Thyme for friends

Plant Four Rows of Lettuce:
Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be patient
Lettuce really love one another

Water Freely With Patience and Cultivate With Love There

I will bring about the restoration of my people Israel; they shall rebuild and inhabit their ruined cities, plant vineyards and drink the wine, set out gardens and eat the fruits. I will plant them upon their own ground; never again shall they be plucked. From the land I have given them, say I, the LORD, your God. - Amos 9: 14-15

May God Bless All of You.

Fr. Pete

Eucharistic Adoration

Everyone needs to be fed by spiritual experiences. Every Monday at 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. we experience the presence of Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration and the Rosary. Come and join us in Church for one hour. All are welcome Come and be fed!

Come and experience the Eucharist every FIRST FRIDAY beginning after morning Mass and ending with Benediction for the Repose of the Blessed Sacrament.

It would be very fitting to have at least three persons committed to Eucharistic Adoration for each hour from 9am to 5pm on each First Friday.

There will be a sheet in the vestibule of the Church for you to sign your name and the time you prefer. Please consider this hour with our Lord a privilege!

St. Jude Parish in Joliet has Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel of the Little Flower. The Chapel is located directly west of the school and is open from 5:00am to 10:00pm to all. After hour adorers (10:00pm-5:00am) need to register. Please call 725-2209.

Catholic Ministries

In the early days of the Church, Paul often gave thanks to one community for its support of another. The Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal is today's manifestation of this tradition of giving to others in need. If you have not yet made your gift, please do so today.

St. Patrick Church Vocation Ministry

The St. Patrick Church Community has a Vocation Ministry. The purpose of this ministry is to promote vocations to the priesthood and religious life through discernment, awareness, education, and prayer. We are focusing on the parish community and asking your participation in this ministry by volunteering a few moments of your day to pray for vocations. This may be done as an individual or as a family. There is a cross designated as the 'Vocation Cross', which will be received by a member of our parish community at one of our weekend Masses. The cross, a reminder of the need for vocations to the Church, will be kept in your home for one week. At the end of the week the cross will be returned to the Parish Rectory. Detailed instructions and suggested prayers will be included with the cross. There is a sign-up sheet for the opportunity to be a part of this ministry at the Resource Center. If you would like more information, please contact Fr. Pete at the Rectory: 815-727-4746.

Jesus needs religious brothers!

To our Religious Education Catechists and Helpers

Our sincere appreciation to the Catechists and Helpers who worked so hard this year to hand on our Catholic beliefs, rituals, traditions, and prayers to the children of St. Patrick Parish! You were here each and every Sunday without fail. You moved beyond the textbook to breathe life into each new concept, belief, practice, prayer - your creativity and hands-on lessons took each child beyond the written Word and into the Word lived. We thank you and bless you for this past year of immeasurable service. We hope, that through your example of ministry, our dear Lord will multiply your good works in the harvesting of more men and women like you as Catechists for the coming years. May you be blessed as richly as you have blessed us!!!

A Message From Fr. Pete to Our Homebound and Their Families:

It has come to my attention as of late that I have not been able to visit as many of our homebound as I first wished when I arrived at the parish last June. (Because of our ever-increasing demographic, over 40 individuals have signed up for homebound ministry since that time.) In the process, Deacon Paul and I have been "burning the candle" in order to make sure as many of our homebound folks have been visited as possible. I have made a commitment to visit the entire list at least four times a year; Deacon Paul should be visiting those I do not visit on a monthly basis. In addition, a group of lay men and women have volunteered to come and visit any and all of our homebound on a weekly basis, if the homebound so choose.

If I have not had the pleasure of visiting any of our homebound since February, I ask that you call our office at 815-727-4746 so that I may make arrangements to pay a visit at their earliest convenience. If any of you in our community know of someone who has not been visited or someone who wishes to be visited by Deacon Paul, the members of the parish, or me personally, please call us and tell us. Know you are in our constant prayers; please keep us in yours as well.
