A Prayer for Priests

Keep them, I pray You, dearest Lord

Keep them, for they are Thine -
Your priests whose lives burn out before
Your consecrated shrine.

Keep them, for they are in the world,
Though from the world apart;
When earthly pleasures tempt, allure,
Shelter them in Your Heart.

Keep them, and comfort them in hours
O loneliness and pain,
When all their life of sacrifice
For souls seems but in vain.

Keep them, and O remember, Lord,
They have no one but Thee,
Yet they have only human hearts,
With human frailty.

Keep them as spotless as the Host,
That daily they caress;
Their every thought and word and deed,
Deign, dearest Lord to bless.

Cardinal Dougherty

On this Divine Mercy Sunday, please pray for your priests, especially Father Eugene and Father Jim. We pray for you daily.

Father Jim

Thank You   --  Thank You

Just a brief note to thank so many of you who sent Easter cards, Easter pastries and Easter gifts to Father Eugene and Yours Truly. We surely appreciated your thoughtfulness and kindness. God Bless You!

As ever,
Father Jim

The Great Vigil of Easter

The dramatic celebration of the Easter Vigil and rising to Life in Christ was a profound experience for the 11 member of St. Patrick's R.C.I.A. In a darkened church Father Jim lit the new fire as candles were passed among the congregation. With the moving readings of our journey with Christ, the newly baptized and the candidates were invited to step forward and receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist for the first time.

Mission Talk

On Sunday, May 2, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in church, we will have our third and final mission talk for 2004. On this evening Father Jay Comerford, O.Carm., a St. Pat's boy, will speak on the Blessed Mother in our lives. Father Jay is an engaging and reflective preacher. His words will touch your hearts. Please mark your calendar!

World Day for Vocations
May 2, 2004

"Wherever two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them"(Mt. 18:20). Sisters Norma, Ellen and Karen are inviting any interested person or families to join them at Emmaus House Convent, 1523 Mayfield Avenue on May 2, 2004, at 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. to pray for vocations. Everyone has a special vocation from God. We will thank God for our vocation, pray to be faithful to it, and pray that more people will heed the call to the priesthood and religious life. Please call to RSVP or for more information (730-0971).

Letter from Catholic Charities

Dear Father Jim and St. Pat Parishioners,

Our mission at Catholic Charities is to translate God's love into professional human services. Your gift of $200.00 is helping us put that mission into practice.

For many individuals homelessness or fear of losing one's homes is a painful reality. When housing is uncertain, everything else becomes unstable. At Catholic Charities Daybreak Center we are proud to provide quality services and programming that include homeless shelter services, homelessness prevention efforts, emergency assistance for basic needs, educational and employment programs, and supportive, professional case management services.

Again, thank you for your support of Catholic Charities Daybreak Center. It is truly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Kathleen McGowan
Executive Director
