The Presentation of the Lord

He had to become like his brothers and sisters in every way. Hebrews 2:17a

Intercession for Life

For all newborn children: that the love and care of Mary and Joseph might inspire and strengthen the hearts of all who are called to care for them; We pray to the Lord.

The Golden Age
When you reach a certain age,
You find it hard to turn the page.

You know not what’s on the other side,
Or what to follow to be your guide.

At age 20, life has just begun,
All you think of is having fun.

At ages 30, 40, and 50,
Life is still quite nifty.

But when 60 and 70 come along,
You begin to sing another song.

Your teeth fall out, Your hair turns gray,
And you wonder what doctors you have to pay.

This is what the Golden Years are called,
When you have to use a cane and are growing bald.

But remember God always gives you a helping hand,
To steady your legs and help you to stand.

He’s always in the shadow of Night,
So you can look up to Heaven and see the Light.

BLESSED ARE THE FAMILY PEACEMAKERS

Christians are not only asked to bring about peace in the world at large, they are asked to be peacemakers in the family. Here are some ways they can do it.

Pray for whoever has wronged you. Pray for the family member you're most mad at and while you're still angry.

Apologize first. Apologizing is a way of breaking out of counter-productive "eye for eye" tactics.

Really listen to the other person. Listening requires undivided attention, suspension of judgment, concentration.

Support family members. Tell family members what you appreciate about them. And tell them often; try it at least once a week for a year and see what happens.

Find Christ in your family. A real eye opener: you may find qualities in your spouse and children that confront you but that Jesus had.

Eucharistic Adoration

We now have two opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration - every Monday evening from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. and First Fridays from 8:35 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The First Friday in February is February 7. At this time of world tension and loose morality, prayer with expectant faith and a firm trust in God's presence is paramount.

Sympathy
We express our sincere sympathy to:

Margaret McGarry and family on the death of her son, MARTIN;
Edward Egan and family on the death of his father, HARRY;
David Leja and family on the death of his mother, Annette.
May they rest in peace.

ADOPT-A-CHILD
Many thanks to Jane Reardon, Ms. Ione E. Madarik, Dr. and Mrs. James Lofky, Mr. & Mrs. James Jurkovich, and Nancy Madarik for their contributions to our Adopt-A-Child fund in memory of HERSCHELL CARLTON.

Be At Peace
Do not look forward in fear to the changes of life;
Rather look to them with full hope that as they arise,
God, whose very own you are, will lead you
safely through all things;
And when you cannot stand it,
God will carry you in His arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
The same everlasting Father who cares for you today
will take care of you today and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering or will give
you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace and put aside all anxious thoughts
and imaginations.
