Holy Land Pilgrimage Videos

From November 28 - December 7, Fr. Pete led a group of forty-five pilgrims to the Holy Land for a set of concerts and spiritual experieces that became a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! On his return from Israel, Fr. Pete gifted the faithful from St. Patrick's by blessing them with oil taken from the lamps that were placed on the altar of the tomb of Christ. He also poured blessed water from the Sea of Galilee into the entry fonts of Church. He then presented each family with a blessed olive wood rosary and candies from Israel. Below are some videos from the pilgrimage...

In the city of Cana on December 4th, our wedding couples renewed their vows of marriage and had their rings blessed. We also purchased wine from Cana for the occasion, including a bottle of Altar wine used at the St. Patrick's Masses on December 9-10!

Taken here is a video of one of our "combined" choir concerts at St. Saviour Church , Old City, Jerusalem, where our folks and a group from Israel sang "Jingle Bells" in English and Arabic!

At the Church of the Assumption in Israel, we gathered around the traditional location where the apostles gathered around Mary to pray and we offered a rosary on that occasion. Every decade of the Rosary we prayed on the trip, I made sure that one Hail Mary of each decade was offered to the parishioners of St. Patrick's, in Spanish.…/church-of-the-assumption-marys-tomb

Here is a video of Adele Knight reading sacred scripture in the chapel of the Tomb of Jesus - the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. To give you an understanding of this video, to reach the empty tomb where Jesus was buried and rose from the dead, the forty-five of us had to crawl into one hole (surrounding a lit candle) in three rows tightly packed to celebrate the Mass. In the meanwhile, I had to crawl into a second hole where the tomb actually was found, covered by an altar. The faithful had to squeeze through the second hole while I was celebrating mass to touch the empty tomb. The Franciscans then emptied the oil lamp from the altar candle and gave it to me so that I could anoint the faithful at St. Patrick's with it during this weekend's Masses!

Whle we are at the River Jordan renewing our baptismal promises and taking water back to our respective parishes (which I will use later this liturgical year), at the same time a group of Orthodox Russian faithful were taking a dip into the Jordan, recalling their own baptism. It was a cool moment!

From the Holy Land Trip, here is a video of our group singing "Silent Night" in the Church of the Nativity, at the cave where Christ was born in Bethlehem.

Here, we visited the Church of the Flagellation, the torture area where Jesus was beaten prior to his crucifixion. As we reached the bottom of the pit where Jesus was lowered, I was asked to set the mood of the scene by reading Psalm 88 for our pilgrims.

Above and below are three videos of us walking the Stations of the Cross at the Via Dolorosa (the path that Christ walked to his crucifixion). I have included the Third Station of the Cross (Jesus Falls the First Time) as well as us walking in between stations, accompanied by Muslim chants customarily sung that early in the morning (we walked the stations around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2nd).
