Vocations
Pray for Seminarians
Please pray for the young men in the seminaries as they continue on their journey toward priesthood for the Diocese of Joliet. They will be serving us in the near future. Vocation Cross Prayer
O loving and gracious God,
Father of all, you bless your people in every time and season and provide for their needs through your providential care. Your Church is continually in need of priests, sisters and brothers to offer themselves in the service of the gospel by lives of dedicated love. Open the hearts of your sons and daughters
to listen to your call in their lives. Give them the gift of understanding to discern your invitation to serve you and your Church. Give them the gift of courage to follow your call.
May they have the spirit of young Samuel who found fulfillment in his life when he said to you, "Speak Lord, for your servant is listening." We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen. Pray for Married Couples
Marriage is also a vocation, a vocation to holiness and a call to be open to the gift of life and to bring each other and your children to heaven, while being leaven in the world.
The word vocation comes from the Latin to call. It is God who calls. When we discover a vocation, it means we discover that God seems to be inviting us to a closer relationship and service. you are called to be a saint in marriage also. God bless you. How right you are! Marriage is a call from God. Since it is the most common call, we usually reserve 'vocation' for the call to the priesthood and religious life, but the truth is God calls everyone, some to the priesthood and religious life, and most to the married life.
