Christian Service

The purpose of the Christian Service Commission is to inform and involve each parishioner in service to one another and to larger communities of city, state, nation, and the world. Special Christian concern must be given to meeting the human needs of people and to eliminate the socio-economic injustices experienced by the poor, the oppressed, the disadvantaged, the racial minorities, the aged, and youth.

The Commission's goal is to involve the parishioners in service projects for both the Parish Community and the larger community. Members for this committee are volunteers from the Parish and also appointments from the Pastor. General meetings are held as needed. The services provided by this committee are varied and many:

  • Cook evening meals at the DayBreak Shelter for the homeless on Saturdays.
  • Assist with a Food and Clothing Pantry at the Rectory.
  • Shepherd's Table - help with the mid day meal at DayBreak.
  • Provide Christmas gifts and flowers to shut-ins.
  • Visit the homebound and nursing homes.
  • Distribute Communion at the hospital weekly.
  • Distribute Communion to the sick at home.

Additional information is available on following organizations which also serve the parish and community with their hard work:

Council of Catholic Women
Food Pantry
Young at Heart
