St. Patrick's
Men's Club Minutes

March 4, 2010 7:00 pm
Held at Tradition's Bar & Grill

Attended by Rich Delaney, Brian Bessler, Jim Dietz, Scott Lockwood, Chris Martin, Tim Mallaney and Bob Vergo.

First on the agenda was this year's chili dinner. We gave over $760 to the parish. The one surprise was that we sold over 100 hot dogs. We figure that that raises a flag for another fundraiser. We were hoping to have a hot dog supper on April 17th and try to tie that in with a movie nite for the kids. We need to see if the date is available. We decided that any money raised from this fundraiser could go to the school to help with their expenses.

Next on the list was FamilyFest 2010. It will be held on Sept. 11 & 12 this year, again at St. Joe's Park. The 1st meeting will be held on March 18 in the Teacher's Lounge. We have a lot of chairpersons to replace this year. So, we will need to get an early start.

Next we discussed this years Irish Dinner that is being held on March 20th in the gym. We will be in charge of the bar. We will begin arriving around 2pm to help set things up and then break things down.

Next on our agenda is a fundraising option that Brian brought to the table. It is called "Charity Splits" This is an internet "50/50" raffle. Bob made contact with the two reps of the company. Basically, they set up a web site and operate it for us. We are in charge of promoting it. There is no upfront cost. Their cut is 20%. We sell $100 worth of tickets, they take $20. We are going to approach some of the Gala Chairpersons to see if they would be interested in adding this to their plate. Brian brought another option from this group. A video slot machine contest. This should definitely be a money maker for some of our events.

We discussed the situation at the school. We all agreed that the Men's Club will help in anyway that is asked of us. It was a no brainer. St. Patrick's school is worth saving, and should be saved.

Under the subject of other. Rich asked if it was OK to swing over to the church complex and help Jim Smith out with things like shoveling snow. We will check with Jim to make sure that is fine by him. Scott mentioned that there is no longer a Family Folder at the school and that all correspondence is now via the internet.

Scott & Chris mentioned that we are always looking to increase our membership. A few months ago Mike Harvey suggested that we begin having a dues drive like the CCW has. This will be given serious thought and consideration.

Thank You,
Bob Vergo
