UNIFORMS

Our uniform vendor is Educational Outfitters located at 16310 S. Lincoln Hwy. in Plainfield (near the intersection of I-55 & Plainfield Road).

Girls:

Acceptable Attire:

  • Grades K-4: Green/navy plaid drop-waist jumper . Shorts must be worn under the jumper.
  • Grades 5-8: Green/navy plaid skirt no more than one inch above the knee. Shorts must be worn under the skirt.
  • Grades K-8: Green/navy plaid skort (please note the skort must be navy plaid, not solid navy). Skorts must be no more than one inch above the knee.
  • Grades K-8: White knit polo shirts with long or short sleeves - shirts are to be " tucked in". Girls in Grades 5-8 must wear a plain white undershirt under the polo shirt.
  • Grades K-8: Navy blue tailored dress slacks are an acceptable alternative to skirts or skorts at all grade levels. No low-rise or hip-hugger slacks are allowed. Slacks must be held up with a solid brown or black belt. No ornamentation or design is allowed on the belt.
  • Grades K-8 Socks: Knee socks, leotards and ankle socks are acceptable. Ankle socks must cover the ankle. Therefore, no ped-like/"no-show" socks are allowed. Neither patterned socks nor sheer socks are allowed.

Color Selection for Socks:

  • Grades K-4 jumper or skort: socks must be white, navy, or hunter green.
  • Grades 5-8 skirt or skort: socks must be white, navy, or hunter green.
  • Grades K-8: walking shorts or blue slacks must be worn with navy blue or white socks.

Cold Weather Attire:

  • Grades K-8: Navy cardigans, white turtleneck shirts, crew-neck pullovers, or sweater vests are permitted in cold weather.
  • Grades K-8: 2008-09 or the newly designed (2009-10) sweatshirt available from Educational Outfitters may be worn.
  • Hats, caps, scarves, or bandannas may not be worn inside the building.

Warm Weather Attire:

  • Knee-length solid navy blue walking shorts with a white polo shirt or blouse are a warm weather option which is available to students from the first day of school until October 15; then again from May 1 to the end of the school year. Shorts, like slacks, must be held up with a plain brown or black belt which is also free of ornamentation or design.

Shoes:

  • Students must wear either solid white or white/black athletic shoes with no other color combinations. Solid white shoe laces on white shoes and white or black laces on white/black shoes are the only permissible shoe lace colors. No other lace color combinations will be acceptable.

Other Limitations on Dress or Appearance:

  • Earrings/Jewelry/Make-up: Small, simple earrings (one per ear lobe) are permitted, but dangling earrings are not allowed. No body piercings other than earrings are allowed. Use of artificial fingernails or colored-nail polish is not allowed. No make-up (including eye makeup) or lip color is allowed.

Sizes:

  • Students must purchase clothing which is of an appropriate size for their height and/or weight. Students who appear at school with clothing which is obviously too tight or too loose will be required to replace that clothing.

Boys:

Acceptable Attire:

  • Grades K-8: Navy blue dress slacks with white knit polo shirt (long or short sleeves) may be worn. Shirts are to be tucked in. Slacks must be held up with a solid brown or black belt that is also free of ornamentation or design.

  • For the 2010-11 school year, knee-length solid navy blue walking shorts with a white polo shirt are a warm-weather option for students from the first day of school through October 15 and again from May 1 to the end of the school year.   • K-8: Navy v-neck pullover or sweater vests may be worn as may white turtleneck shirts.
  • K-8: Grades K-8: 2008-09 or the newly designed (2009-10) sweatshirt available from Educational Outfitters may be worn.
  • Hats, caps, scarves, or bandannas must not be worn inside the building.

Shoes:

  • Shoes must be all white or black or a white/black combination with no other colors along with white or black shoelaces.

Socks:

  • Socks must be above the ankle in one of the following solid colors - navy blue, black or white if walking shorts are worn; black if slacks are worn. Socks cannot be ped-like/"no show" style.

Other Limitations on Dress or Appearance:

  • No earrings or other piercing jewelry may be worn to school or to school-related activities.

Hair Styles Girls and Boys

  • Hairstyles are to be shaped and trimmed, not long and shaggy. Boys' hair should not reach below the collar or over the ears. No male or female bangs may hang below the eyebrows. Exaggerated sideburns are forbidden. Hair sculpting of images or designs is not permitted nor is the practice of dying, highlighting, or low lighting.

Gym Uniforms:

  • Grades 5-8: The gym uniform consists of a gray t-shirt with a P.E. logo and green athletic shorts which must be purchased from Educational Outfitters. Gym shoes must have non-marking soles.

School Spirit Days:

  • On occasion, the Principal shall designate "School Spirit" days. On such days students will be permitted to wear clothing other than the normal school uniform. School Spirit dress shall consist of St. Patrick School spirit wear which is available at the Educational Outfitters store in Joliet. Gym shoes and jeans may be worn on "School Spirit" days. However, jeans with rips or holes or jeans that are excessively baggy are not permitted.

Principal's Determination:

  • In matters pertaining to interpretation of or compliance with the Dress Code of St. Patrick School, the Principal-s determination shall be final.
